On September 26th, Professor Tim Sharpe, Head of the Department of Architecture at the University of Strathclyde (UK), together with Professors Cristobal Crespo Gonzalez and Emilio Rodriguez Blanco from the Universidad de La Coruña (Spain), paid a visit to the School of Architecture, Inner Mongolia University of Technology. They also held discussions with Professor Xu Guoqiang, Dean of the School of Architecture, Professor Duan Jianqiang, Professor in Charge of International Teaching Cooperation, and Li Chaoming, Director of International Exchange and Cooperation, among other representatives.
At the forum, Dean Xu Guoqiang extended a warm welcome to the visiting professors. Li Chaoming introduced the development history, current teaching and research status of the School of Architecture, Inner Mongolia University of Technology. Prof. Tim Sharpe presented an overview of the Department of Architecture at the University of Strathclyde and shared the school’s latest research achievements in the fields of architectural design, urban planning and sustainable development. Prof. Cristobal Crespo Gonzalez and Emilio Rodriguez Blanco gave detailed introductions respectively on Spain’s experience in historical building conservation and the application of modern architectural technologies.
The two sides conducted in-depth discussions on the current hot topics and future development trends in the fields of architecture and urban planning. Professors from the two universities spoke highly of the achievements made by the School of Architecture, Inner Mongolia University of Technology, in regional architectural research and regional characteristic architectural design, and put forward suggestions for further cooperation.
This visit has not only strengthened the ties between the School of Architecture, Inner Mongolia University of Technology and internationally renowned architecture schools, but also provided a valuable platform for learning and exchange for the faculty and students of the school. It has deepened their understanding of the global trends in the field of architecture and laid a solid foundation for further teaching and research cooperation in the future.
